Hello 2005!

Memories of 2004.

Time flies so fast, im too slow to catch up with her. So many memories in 2004 and i'll try to put it down in here.

___2004 began with my year 2 sem 2 in bmie. allocated to a class with all gers, xcept for 3 other guys(me, ziwei and joel). the subjects were interesting, better then previous sem, and definitely easier. did a bioinfo project that was quite fun, programming in java to sequence dna. had the most tedious test for capbbs, nearly gave up during exam.
__dad started some food business, selling food in carnivals. helped him in selling pastries and other stuff at the naval base open house. it was really hard work,waking up super early(4am), working in the hot sun, serving customers but fun. really nice to serve customers, have this satisfaction similar to helping pple. learnt many skills when dealing with people. but my dad was too nice, he gives discounts and freebies to pple easily. thats probably y the profits wasn't to great.
__sinced i passed driving, been driving frequently to everywhere.
__practicing every tuesday and friday at NIE symphonic band. the people there were especially friendly, probably cos they are all teachers n grads n lawyers and conductors. it was really fun making music with them. after practice we would proceed to a supper location and fill our stomach. supper locations like bukit timah, holland and jurong were the frequent supper spots. had the first concert for 2004 at singapore conference hall. played quite a few nice pieces like "to the stars" and had a combine with the NTU choir too.
__caught my first sso performance for the year 2004 with garrie. the new trumpter ,lawrence ,was playing the trumpet concerto. he was wonderful, but wynton's still the best.
__during May we had our usual class chalet at the club next to downtown east. we cycled all the way to changi village from downtown east. it was very very tiring but fun. never cycled so far before. we had another class chalet after we finished our SIP. it was at sentosa. yet another wonderful chalet. somehow our class chalet is always very fun, never a unenjoyable one. the food this time was wonderful, lots of variety.
__saddam was ousted out of iraq by our international policeman, george bush. the war in iraq is still raging on, small militant resistance raging guerilla warfare with the US. countless lives lost.
__2004 was also a year of goodies, from my beloved sis. =). first up, a pair of oakley shades! woot! have been eyeing one since secondary skool. but the main reason is i need them when i drive. my eyes are a little sensitive to light, due to long hours working infront of the computer and sleeping late. next up, a brand new crumpler bag!! aye need one to lug my laptop around. my sis roxs!! next was a mini fridge from my mum!! muhaha now drinks are in the vicinity and a drink is within my reach.
__food in 2004 was one of the highlights. frequently visited coffee club, crystal jade, thai express, marche, swensen, nydc, secret receipe, baker's inn, marina bay's bbq steamboat, sakae, genki, pasta fresca, east ocean, shaslik, vienna cafe and many others. 2004 favourite dish probably was strawberry romanoff at coffee club and crystal jade's la mien. favourite drink for 2004 was mango frappucino at starbucks.
__had SIP in school and it was interesting working on the project. we seemed to be blessed with many stuff. it was also the period i started to exercise. initiated the running sessions at bedok reservoir. it was fun and enjoyable running around the reservoir.
__PM Goh stepped down as PM and lee hsien long took over. many changes to the education system in singapore. hopefully for the better.
__movies that rox 2004 were: matrix revolution, lord of the rings: return of the king, spidermen 2. movies that don't deserved to be in cinemas would be Alien vs Predator.
__21/12/2004 10:20p.m. , my first accident. road accident. it was minor but its my first. still can't get over it, probably need a few months before i have the confidence to drive again.
__and before the year ended, an earthquake took the lives of countless people from poor nations in Asia. biggest quake since 40 years ago. it was heart warming to see so many singaporeans donating to help the relief efforts.
__finally, 2004 ended with a new swatch on my wrist.

Everybody wants kungfu fighting!

cold day. chilly winds. dark skies. post christmas. new year coming. quiz completed. and .... EVERYBODY WANTS KUNG FU FIGHTING ! o yea, probably the climax of december was today, officially my kung fu day. no, im not talking about me chopping some one up with "Subduing dragon 18 palm skill", or "toad skill", im talking about Kung Fu Hustle! kudos to the one and only stephen chow for his outrageously funny show. its like a movie come true for the little kid in me. i always liked kung fu shows, especially those with heros that have weird and powerful skills and saves the day. kung fu and comedy roxs together. just luv stephen chow's slapstick humour, always making me laugh my ass off. i really luv the fight scenes, all the different skills used by the various kung fu masters. just when you thought one kung fu master was godly in his skills, another one comes and beats him with a superduper powerful skill. one complain is that his side kick suxs big time, i prefer his old side kick. this new side kick just do stupid things and only havel ike a few lines in the script. and the new actress just doesnt even talk! come on a great looking gal needs some good lines to match, kinda wasted that her role was a mute. over all i enjoyed the show very much, i wanna buy the vcd ! my rating: 7/10 ( wanted to give 9 but for giving the ger a mute's role i reduce to 7.)
